Bojangles -Gretna Green (2021)

Superb Bed & Breakfast that we stayed in on route to do the NC 500, we absolutely loved our overnight stay at Bojangles. A warm welcome greeted us from the hosts who couldn’t do enough for you. The rooms were very clean with on-suite facilities and the property was maintained to a high standard. just along the road is a pub that did excellent food for the evening and in the morning you could have a great full English, added to this was secure parking for our 6 bikes and we couldn’t have been happier and if ever we are heading this way again we’d definitely stay here again
Pro’s – Clean, friendly, well present, secure parking greta value for money
Cons – Nothing
Rating – 9.5/10

Washington Central Hotel – Workington (2021)

Nice well presented hotel in the town of Workington this really wasn’t what we’d expected. looking for a larger town that would have things to do but allow us to explore the beautiful lake district we were disappointed with how the town was, fairly run down looking and not what we envisaged the lakes to be like. The hotel itself was good with a pool which due to covid had limited access which meant by the time we got there we couldn’t use it. The rooms were clean but very warm which meant you had to have the window open which in turn led to another problem. This Hotel is right next door to a very busy road intersection and the traffic noise with the window open was loud, it is also by a number of clubs and pubs which lead to even more noise in the early hours from party goers going home. With no secure parking and our bikes on show to the busy road and tipsey fun seekers we were pleasantly surprised to come down in the morning to find all our bikes in one piece
Pro’s – Nice hotel, pool, good breakfast, clean
Cons – Rooms very hot so needed the window open, sited by a very busy junction, pool limited due to Covid
Rating – 8/10

Caledonian Hotel – Ullapool (2021)

In honest we’d talked about Scotland and doing the NC500 on a number of occasions but for most of us the thought of constant rain and being bitten by mozzies was always over ruled by the draw of Europe and it’s wide open spaces, decent tarmac and sunnier weather. That was until 2021 and world’s decision to lock countries down, We’d been lucky the year before and had still managed to get over to the South East of France which was immense but this year we had little option other than to head to Scotland and boy we were not disappointed. great weather, great scenery, sketchy roads and tired accommodation. We decided to base over selves on the west coast in Ullapool and settled on the Caledonian Hotel. There is very little in Ullapool and this Hotel was one of only 2 we could find, this being the most reasonably priced. It is dated and requires a huge amount of work on it however our room was clean and had an on-suite and to be fair we knew we weren’t going to spend much time in it, the best thing was the breakfast which was very good and just what you needed before heading out and discovering this wild and wonderful coast line.
Pro’s – Location , breakfast, Scenery
Cons – Very dated and in need of a refurb, parking is not secure, Ullapool is very quiet
Rating – 7/10

HILLRISE – PortRush (2022)

Hillrise in Port Rush Northern Ireland is an absolute gem of a B&B, visited by Bulby at Easter in 2022 it is situated right on part of the circuit for the North West 200 in Portrush which is run in the middle of May. Hillrise is a beautiful B&B with views across the town and bay and hosts Kieran and Dianne are brilliant and nothing is to much trouble including a great breakfast this really is a fantastic place to stay for road racing fans with off road parking and a first class view of the racing.
Pro’s – The room, breakfast, hosts and breakfast
Cons – Cost, not cheap
Rating – 9.5/10

Seren Villa Guest House – Llandudno (2021)

Bulby and Juicey decided to head into north wales for a few days in the later part of the year and headed to Llandudno where they stayed at the Seren Villa gust house. Bulby referred to this place as the only bed and breakfast that didn’t do a breakfast (due to Covid apparently) so in fact it was just then a Bed. The entrance to the property is well presented with candles giving off a nice scent and music playing softly in the background however this was the nicest part of the property, The room was clean and had tea making facilities , which is always a plus however in the on-suite the sealant around the shower had mould on it and there was no bath ( for those that prefer).Added to this the position of the TV meant that you couldn’t see if from one of the beds and small things like the coat hooks on the back of the door weren’t fixed correctly meant that from a positive start it ended up being slightly disappointing. On a plus note the boys did find a great greasy spoon cafe that was open early every morning which offered a great fry and a cup of tea for about £6.
Pro’s – Location
Cons – No breakfast due to covid, couldn’t see the TV from the bed, bathroom had mould on the sealant. Off road parking but wasn’t secure
Rating – 7/10
